Open Wielding?
I find it strange that the game only gives you one hand to wield a weapon. wouldn't it be better to free both hands up to allow a more free range of weapon or casting combinations?
for example: you may wield a sword and dagger, or perhaps a dagger and wand? i just think that it may have some potential.
However, much like real life one hand must be weaker than the other, thus you could limit the damage or effectiveness of one of the hands depending on what item is being held, while the other has full dmg, effects, ect. this will allow you to combine weapons and not only have shields on the offhand. and also, you must meet the req of both items in order to wield both
might be too overpowered tho.

only reason it would be overpowered is let's say a warrior with 16 axe mastery. Is wielding two axes, one vampiric and one zealous. And one could have +30 health and one could have +5 energy.
Having access to two different sets of weapon mods would be overpowered, the reason that assassin daggers come in pairs. And btw, this has already been suggested numerous times.

The only thing I could understand is being able to put another dagger in the shield slot and having it only affect the skin so that you could have 2 different daggers in each hand but only getting the bonus for one.

Also you would have to designate a 'main' hand still. After all, if you tell your char to attack: do you want him to use the dagger or the wand? Unless you differentiate between what the default action is when you say 'attack', this could lead to some problems, like accidental leroy jenkins.

i'd find it better if you dual wield weapons like the assassins daggers so then if you modify them then the effect is like it's only being applied to 1 of the weapons but it would also mean that you couldn't wield 2 different skins of swords/axes etc.

It's been suggested numerous times. Try searching for "Dual Wielding" or common misspellings of such.
